Girl Guiding UK is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2010 so Ross-in-Bloom has decided that the colours for next year's scheme will be blue, yellow and pink to reflect the different branches, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.

Margaret Lucas, Chairman of Ross-in-Bloom, told The Ross Gazette that they were delighted to be working with the Guides.

She added that during their visit to Ross the Heart of England in Bloom Judges remarked how dreadful the benches had become in the Crossfields area of the town. Margaret said: "We are hoping that next year we may be able to work with Amey Wye Valley to rectify this problem. We thought that if anyone was looking to have a commemorative bench they might like to let us know and we will approach Amey to see if this could be included as part of their annual schemes of refurbishment."

The starting dates for the clean up of Pigs Alley are Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th. If anyone is still interested in lending a hand for this very important work please could you leave your details with Margaret at Lucas Motorcycles in Brookend Street and she will get back to you with times and further information.

Ross-in-Bloom members are hoping to get all the initial work done swiftly so the painting can be completed during half term. Under 16's who would like to help will need to be accompanied. However people of all ages and abilities are welcome to contact Margaret to volunteer their services as soon as possible.
