COUNCILLORS agreed that a development at the Gardner Butcher
Garages site, in Kyrle Street, would be an improvement to what is
already on the site, and it was given the go-ahead by planners at a meeting
of the Southern Area Planning Sub-committee meeting on Wednesday,
February 18th.
Despite reservations about the unusual pitch of the roofs Councillors
agreed to the proposal for the site which is between Berkeley Mews and
Morley Square and opposite Kyrle Place.
Councillor Jenny Hyde said: "It is very much better than what is there,
the design is a little incongruous but the site is an eyesore.
The Planning Officers had recommended approval, they felt it was a
quality design which will 'enhance and preserve the Conservation Area.' For more on this story, see The Ross Gazette issue dated February 25th
