Well-known Ross couple, Lin and John Bennett have just celebrated a very special anniversary with family and close friends, they have been been married for 50 years.

Lin is from Hay-on-Wye and their wedding took place there, but the couple then settled in Ross running the garage at Wilton, which had been founded by John’s grandad.

The couple met through a game of badminton and shared a mutual love for tennis, which they passed on to their children, especially Colin, who went on to achieve great success in this sport.

The couple were joined at their celebration at Orles Barn in Ross, by their son, his partner, Carolyne Oakhill, and his two children, Lily and Edward, as well as their daughter, Jackie, her partner, Leigh Hall and her daughter, Jordan and son, Lewis.

But there was one extra special guest, one of Lin’s bridesmaid’s was the 10-year-old daughter of a friend of a friend, and they had not spoken for 50 years. They managed to get back in contact and Liz was at the party, along with Lin’s other bridesmaid, a cousin, Jacqui Warren, and John’s best man, his brother, Robert.

Lin has treasured her wedding dress for 50 years and together with her veil it was on display at the party.
