ON Saturday April 30th, South Herefordshire golf club kindly hosted the fourth Golf Day in memory of Matthew Beddard. The highly successful day was kindly organised by Mike Donoghue, Head of PE at John Kyrle High School, and ably assisted by Phil Watershouse. Both were kept extremely busy in view of the superb turnout of 50 enthusiastic competitors.

The sun shone as the participants set off, although the wind did prove a challenge for some, everyone including a large number of non-playing spectators thoroughly enjoyed the day. The field consisted of a wide range of abilities and playing styles and included large numbers of Matt's friends, with several others turning up to watch during the afternoon. It was great for Matt's family to see so many people who still remember Matt. A big thank you to all who attended.

The Stableford scoring event was eventually won by Phin Parsons with a score of 38 points, narrowly beating Spud Jenkins due to a higher scoring inward of nine. Third, a mere one point behind was Colin Murphy.

A fabulous £370 was raised on the day, which will be doubled to £740 with the help of HSBS's staff £1 for £1 charity scheme.

Matt's family would like to say a huge thank you to Mike, Phil and South Herefordshire Golf for arranging and hosting the event. Hopefully there weren't too many divots to repair, although a considerable number of additional balls to be found in various parts of the course.
