Madam, I was shocked this week when I saw the headline "JKHS still 'outstanding', because in their latest Ofsted Inspection (September 2012) they were deemed overall, as good, not outstanding.
Yes, they did receive outstanding for Behaviour & Safety of Pupils and Leadership and Management, but equally only received good for Achievement of Pupils and Quality of Teaching. I was greatly disappointed to read such a misleading statement, as my daughter and I had attended the Open Morning at John Kyrle on Tuesday October 2nd and were encouraged with what we saw. It seems a shame that a school like John Kyrle has to put on such a show, when in reality, we as parents only want to know the truth, something which is supplied in the Ofsted report. The Ofsted report is available online for anyone else interested in reading it.

MADAM, Your front page story, of October 3rd, under the headline "JKHS still 'outstanding'", is incorrect.
This line was also repeated on pages two and 14. Whilst JKHS was graded outstanding during the previous Ofsted inspection in 2008, the actual Ofsted grade for JKHS's recent inspection, in 2012, is now only good, as clearly detailed in the full report. Specifically both the attainment of pupils and quality of teaching were graded as good.

Editor's note: As the front page story from the Ross Gazette October 3rd made clear the areas, Student Behaviour, Safeguarding, the Sixth Form, and Leadership and Management were given the highest Ofsted grading of Outstanding. All other areas were graded as Good. It is still an achievement which the Gazette felt worthy of reporting.
