Goodrich 1st XI travelled across the border on Saturday to visit Glangrwyney 1st XI in Division 1 of the GB Marches league. On arrival, the Goodrich players could not inspect the wicket, as it was not known until the stumps went in where they would be playing as the strip could not be determined from the rest of the square. Due to this fact, skipper Andy Brown had no hesitation in inserting the Glangrwyney batsmen.
Regular openers J O'Brien and M Bradford enjoyed bowling on the wicket and O'Brien especially was bowling with pace and bounce. Both bowled well but this week it was O'Brien who picked up the wickets taking another 5 for 33 from his 12 overs. They were replaced by R Bastable and R Davies and then A Evans and Bastable and Evans cleared up the tail with Bastable taking 3 for 18 from 8 overs. Only N Jones had any innings of substance for Glangrwyney hitting a solid 55 runs.
Following a one sided tea break Goodrich openers R Davies and R Lord put on 25 before Davies was dismissed and Lord was joined by A Brown. Brown (44) and Lord then put on a 50 partnership before Brown was dismissed trying to dispatch another ball to the boundary. S Griffiths then joined Lord and was flying until a superb reflex catch cost him dearly. Lord (25) was joined by Evans where they put on 20 before Lord was replaced by J Griffiths then E Rutsch then E Pyatt before the winning total was reached. Goodrich got to 136 for 7 in 29 overs which included two rain breaks.
