Goodrich village celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Coppett Hill Common Trust, on Saturday, September 10th.
Locals and visitors turned out in droves, despite the soggy weather, and were treated to an exhibition, a slide show, tea, cake, pizza and a children’s art competition. The day finished with a celebratory cake cutting by some of the founders from 30 years ago, who helped to buy the hill and set up the Trust.
“We were pleased to welcome so many people,” said Patrick Chatterton, Company Secretary. “Everyone was so positive about the hill and the work we have been doing lately, which is brilliant! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the day such a success.”
Coppett Hill Common Nature Reserve is one of the largest local nature reserves in Herefordshire at 250 acres and forms part of the iconic view of the Wye Valley from the Symonds Yat viewpoint. It attained nature reserve status in 2000. The reserve is unusual in that it is a Company Limited by shares and is owned, run and managed by local people.
