The children at Goodrich Primary School have been busy investigating and making 3D shapes outdoors as part of the school’s involvement in the Forest School project.

Forest School is an initiative that offers all learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences. Pupils learn in a woodland or in the natural environment.

Goodrich Primary School have dedicated parts of their grounds where the pupils can enjoy spending time and learning with nature.

Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and complements the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.

The ethos is shared by thousands of trained practitioners across the UK and beyond. Its roots reach back to the early years’ pioneers in outdoor learning and across the sea to Scandinavia.

On this occasion, the children were using their knowledge of 3D shapes to help build shelters for somebody living in the Stone Age.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
