Goodrich 1st XI travelled to Shobdon to take on the bottom club in division 1 of the GB Marches league on Saturday July 2nd. On one of the warmest days of the year the Goodrich skipper lost the toss but still led his team out to field first.

On a flat batting track the Shobdon openers started attacking from the off, with the pace of the bowlers being exploited on the small ground. I Probert (21) & C Burke (50) made the most of any wide or short bowling before T Ammonds (86) came in to enjoy the flat track. Unfortunately for Shobdon no other batsmen got a start and Goodrich dismissed them for a below par 214 in the final over. The pick of the Goodrich bowlers were L Phillips-page 3-33 and M Bradford 2-28.

In response Goodrich also shot off like a rocket with A Robbins (58) & R Davies (56) putting on 80 for the first wicket in the first 11 overs. Skipper A Brown (28) then put on 62 with Davies and a further 28 with O'Brien before Goodrich stuttered, losing 4 wickets for only 20 runs leaving the score on 191 for 7. However with 10 overs left Phillips-page and E Pyatt saw the club home without any further distress.

This victory gives Goodrich another maximum point victory and keeps the pressure on the two teams above them, Garnons & Luctonians. Goodrich play Luctonians at The Avenue, Goodrich this coming weekend in another top of the table clash.
