The Chairman of Ross Town Council's Events Committee took it upon himself to cut grass across the town last week.
With grass cutting not due in Ross until the beginning of September, Councillor Richard Mayo stepped in to give Ross a chance to look its best during the summer.
Cllr Mayo said: "I was concerned that the length of the grass was not a good advert for our town, so I requested some money from the event's budget and also approached the Association of Ross Traders about covering the cost of hiring the mowing equipment."
With a number of events booked at Ross band stand throughout the summer, Cllr Mayo was concerned that the long grass would deter visitors.
He said: "I have already put my time into cutting all the parks by the river and I am hoping to get round some of the other parks and football pitches around town before the end of the week."
