Dear Editor,
We hear such adverse comments about our NHS service and our Doctors and Nurses that I would like to comment on my recent experiences:
I was unfortunately taken into hospital early one morning.
On arrival at A&E Hereford, I was treated immediately. I was in considerable pain and very frightened which necessitated some serious pain relief.
here was a lovely nurse from Kington there who stayed with me from that moment on. She was still with me when I eventually reached Frome and Arrow Wards much later. That act of kindness will stay with me always.
On the above mentioned wards, I received excellent medical attention by all but especially by Dr Phillips who is the Ward Doctor. He was excellent just calmly and collectively putting things into place.
I was then, a week later, transferred to Ross Community Hospital to continue my treatment and recuperate. How lucky are we to have this lovely hospital on our doorstep. From the Doctor to the Nurses to the tea ladies and the cleaning staff – nothing was too much trouble.
I am home and, although not out and about, have had time to reflect on how fortunate we are to have the NHS who do such a wonderful job with the resources they have under often very difficult conditions.
How fortunate we are to have Ross Community Hospital right in our midst. In my opinion we should be doing all we can to maintain it as I sure do not know what I would have done without it.
Last, but not least, I would like to thank my wonderful friends. My dogs went to stay with a friend and, at this time, are still there. Quite a feat when you consider there are four of them.
Other friends visited daily, did washing, brought me things, cleaned the house for my return and were there for me every day. The builder who was rendering and painting my house when this all kicked off worked weekends to get it finished for my return. How lucky am I?
So thank you NHS, thank you Ross Community Hospital and thank you my wonderful friends.
In a world that can be quite negative, we have here in our County and on our doorstep in Ross people who are kind, loving, caring and compassionate.
We should be very proud and grateful. I certainly am.
Christine Eynon (Mrs)
Ross
