Local rally driver, Dan Gray, took part in the Cambrian rally on Saturday, November 1st, in the last round of the Formula 1000 forest championship.
He started very well, coming out of SS1, and leading his class going into SS2 with his head held high. Halfway through the stage he hit trouble coming into an off-camber, fast right, losing control and rolling the car. Luckily, spectators managed to put the car back onto its wheels Dan then carried on to finish the stage with no side windows, a shattered windscreen and a puncture.
His service team managed to patch the car up and allow Dan to carry on with the remaining four stages, 80 or so road miles.
In spite of the problems, Dan managed to finish 3rd in class and 3rd in the Formula 1000 Forest Championship 2008. Dan will be doing the BTRDA 1400 forest series in 2009 in a newly built Peugeot 106 S1400 to make this possible he is looking for sponsors.
