At just 18 years of age, Dexter Henry Millest is building quite a reputation as a local musician who is heading for bigger and better things.

Supported by BBC Hereford and Worcester’s Introducing scheme, Dexter, a former John Kyrle High School pupil, is spending his gap year working on his music. He writes his own songs and plays guitar and drums, along with many others.

He enjoys all types of music but told the Ross Gazette he has been influenced by rock, jazz and indie, although he describes his music as “more folky.”

He loves songs with a story and his songs are very character based, although he insists that character is not always himself. He said:?“I enjoy being ambiguous, you can write a song about an event without mentioning it.”

Dexter is also very influenced by the fact that his father is a member of an Eagles tribute band which has performed around the world. He said he loved going with him and knew that he wanted to be a performer.
