Madam, Can we through your columns express our appreciation to the members of Ross Rural Parish Council for arranging for the placement of a Wreath on the Greytree War Memorial for Remembrance Sunday.

Although there is no longer an official Service we were able to pay our own silent tribute to those members of the Greytree community who served in the First World War, many of whom bear family names well known to the town

Can we also express our thanks to Carol and Wilf Hailes who lovingly tend to the garden around the memorial and who arranged for the laying of other wreaths on Sunday.

It's reassuring that such thoughtful ness still exists as we organise our return to our new family home at the rear of Greytree Lodge in the next few weeks.

The retention and maintenance of the War Memorial is now formally written into the Deeds of the freehold of Greytree Lodge as well as being formally registered at the Imperial War Museum in London.
