James Weatherhead will be taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday, October 2nd, to raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, Herefordshire Branch.

57-year-old James is a familiar face to many in Ross-on-Wye, he is a retired postman and former Ross Parish Councillor. He has taken part in several previous charity fundraising challenges, and his last full Marathon was in 2013, but he hopes to secure a place in next year’s London Marathon.

James hopes to complete the Cardiff Half Marathon within one hour and 45 minutes, but he is quitely confident about his goal. “It’s one of the flattest routes in the UK,” he told the Ross Gazette.

James has been involved with the Royal British Legion since 1997, and he continues to be an active member of the Ross-on-Wye Branch.

“I feel like I’ve been involved in the RBL?for so long, this is my way of supporting those who have lost their lives in all conflicts,” James added.
