Madam, I recently attended the Have Your Say meeting.

The topics ranged from Health Care, Public Transport, Education etc. The question was asked where savings could be made.

Several suggestions were made, I asked "Are the new County Boundary signs, which I don't understand, really necessary? A member of the public (not an adjudicator) replied "You are old and old fashioned these signs are not intended for your age group" the adjudicator intervened and said "they are hopefully going to bring investment and industry into Herefordshire, this will help with employment and keep the youth in the County."

"I will admit to being old but I really can't understand how a sign that reads HEREfordshire YOU CAN will attract investment or industry. I asked "what the cost was of removing the old signs, designing, purchasing and installing the new ones?

I did not get an answer!

At a time when essential services are being cut I feel that all that is needed is the old signs cleaned and repainted. Or a simple sign. " Welcome to Herefordshire", would have been preferable.
