A JustGiving crowdfunding page set up to pay for repairs to the headstone of Private Edwards who is buried at St Catherine’s Church in Hoarwithy, near Ross-on-Wye is to feature on BBC Radio 2.

Local resident, Jim Buckley set up the appeal which has already raised £430 of the £600 target and on February 4th at 2.30pm there is a service to commemorate the Centenary of Pte Edward’s death and present his newly restored headstone in the beautiful churchyard of St Catherine’s, Hoarwithy. Everyone is very welcome. Jeremy Vine is broadcasting an item about the repair of George’s memorial on BBC Radio 2 between 1 and 2pm on Friday, January 26th.

Private George Henry Edwards of 1st Battalion Herefordshire was born in Hentland in 1893, and was baptised in St Catherine’s church.
