Those in and around Ross trying to quit smoking have have half as many support services available to them as better equipped areas such as central London, according to new research.

These findings have been uncovered through a study into the level of smoking cessation support within England and shows that only one dedicated support service exists for almost 106k smokers. The full findings can be found here.

The study took into account smoker data from all smokers aged over 15. This data, from the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities was then ranked according to the number of support-services per smoker.

The research, conducted by online retailer Vapekit, found that the area covered by NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire contains only one dedicated local stop smoking service for 105,731 smokers; the area covered by NHS Central London has two smoking cessation services, despite containing 75,072 fewer smokers. When Herefordshire and Worcestershire is compared with the 134 other areas of England, it’s the 21st-worst area in the country in terms of the number of smokers versus the number of local stop smoking support services.
