Herefordshire is one of just a few counties where the residents have increased their activity levels and participation in sport. Many residents in Ross-on-Wye use the leisure centre in the town run by Halo Leisure or attend sports clubs and gyms.
Halo Leisure is delighted to see that the latest research from Sport England into adult participation in sport and recreation lists Herefordshire as one of the counties which have seen a real increase in local people taking part in physical activity in the last 10 years. Only a third of the 300 local authority areas across the UK reported this positive improvement, according to the results which measured activity (for at least 30 minutes three days a week) in those aged 16 and over.
“We’re on a mission to ’Create Healthier Communities’ by supporting people in the county get more active more of the time and our own visitor figures support this research," says Halo CEO Scott Rolfe. “With ten leisure centres across Herefordshire and the multi million pound investment we have made into these facilities in recent years - has significantly contributed to a more active county. We know the urgent need for this increase in regular activity to continue and are proud to be working with public health, the county council and sports clubs in Herefordshire to make this happen. We all believe in the power of collaboration to drive change and are excited about what 2017 will bring.”
