An iconic telephone box at Brampton Abbotts has been put to new use storing a defibrillator.
The parish council purchased the decommissioned K6 phone box a number of years ago when it came up for removal. It is a landmark recognised
all over the world and it was decided to save it for the future.
After consideration it was agreed that it would be beneficial to all parishioners, and be an asset to the parish to use it to house a defibrillator. Fund raising was started around the parish and enough money was raised to buy the cabinet, the
defibrillator, new window panels and paint.
Thanks to donations from Oak House Nursery and Alder Preece the box was rubbed down and painted and the secure cabinet was installed. Following the installation, a number of the Parishioners attended a CPR presentation by Andy Jeynes the Community Response Manager and Tactical manager of the West Midlands Ambulance Service at How Caple Church. The defibrillator has been accredited and registered on the emergency CAD held in Ambulance Control. CAD is a highly specialised application that allows coordinated communication and tracking of police/ambulance department response to calls for service.
The Parish Council are very grateful to everyone who assisted in this very worthwhile project.
