Circulatory diseases kill more people in Herefordshire than any other condition.
Newly-released data from Public Health England has revealed that, of 2,096 deaths registered, 619 people died from the disease in 2016, the most recent period for which data has been released.
That is 29.5% of the deaths in Herefordshire, and the figure is down from 33.9% in 2011 when 647 patients died from this condition.
The proportion of circulatory diseases deaths in Herefordshire is above the rate for England, where 25.5% of the deaths were caused by this kind of condition in 2016.
Five years earlier, circulatory diseases were responsible for 28.9% of the deaths nationally.
After circulatory disease, cancer was the second deadliest illness in Herefordshire. About 26.3% of the deaths were caused by this condition, down from 28.8% in 2011.
