Visiting restrictions at Hereford County Hospital’s Gilwern Unit have been lifted. The unit, for frail and elderly patients, was closed to visitors last week following an outbreak of Norovirus.
While visitors are now allowed back on the ward, it is important that anyone with diarrhoea and/or vomiting does not visit the hospital until they have been free of symptoms for 48 hours.
Visitors are requested to practice good hand hygiene and use the alcohol gels available in all wards and departments.
The Wye Valley Trust thanks all patients and visitors for their understanding during this period and to emphasise that these restrictions were put in place to protect the patients, as part of a zero tolerance approach to healthcare associated infections.
