Despite being hospitalised after running nine miles, and having to abandon her dream of completing the London Marathon, Becky Flynn is not giving up her mission to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
She is, of course, feeling very disappointed and was worried that she had let her brother, Jonathan, who died of an undiagnosed heart condition, down.
However, she has been reassured that many of her supporters have continued to donate and she is in the top 100 marathon fundraisers via Just Giving and in the top three for the British Heart Foundation Just Giving fundraisers, out of 400.
Her day did not start well. Although Becky had originally planned to run wearing a lobster costume, she decided that it would just be too hot. Then she was invited to talk on a live broadcast for the BBC Breakfast Show at 6.20am if she wore the lobster outfit.
Although it meant a 5am start, she jumped at the chance as it would give her the opportunity to talk about her brother, Jonathan, and losing him to heart disease, as well as highlighting the fundraising that has already been achieved by all those running for the BHF.
However, the taxi sent by the BBC was 90 minutes late, so she missed her slot. However, she was interviewed on the BBC news at 9.13am
Becky told the Ross Gazette, “The race started ok, my second 5km was faster than my first and although it was a slow jog walk I was doing well.
