The Celebration of the Hedgehog in Ross is off to a flying start with a really full programme of events planned and local schools getting on board with activities to encourage more of these wild creatures into their grounds.

Yolande Watson, who is one of the organisers behind this first hedgehog festival, together with Maureen Webb of Furzepig Rescue, Jan Rodd, a storyteller with the Decorative & Fine Arts Society and Rachael Daniel from Sainsbury, she attended an assembly at Walford Primary School last week. Rachael presented a cheque for £125 to the School Council and Eco Committee to help with the construction of a Forest School, including hedgehog-friendly homes. Jane told the children a story about the way nature rewards hard work with bountiful and beautiful plants and flowers.
