Madam, With Christmas just around the corner I would like to invite anybody who has ever thought that they might like to volunteer to make it their New Year's Resolution for 2012.

Jumpstart Kidz desperately needs an experienced treasurer. We have recently been lucky enough to have been awarded five years funding and we are secure financially but our current treasurer, who has been with us for 15 years, has had to move away and we urgently need a replacement. Anybody who would like to know more about the position can email me and we would really love to hear from you.

I know we are not unique in needing good quality trustees and volunteers. Herefordshire Voluntary Action have confirmed to me that there is a huge lack of volunteers in the County. Local voluntary organisations and charities offer help and solutions, and make things better, for people in our local communities.

Apart from actually delivering services we all need volunteers with experience in accounting, HR (personnel), management and, of course, life experience. Volunteering is tailored to what you want to do and all offers are very welcome. Not only does it involve you in the local community where you can 'give something back' but it also gives you experience, company and friendship – great for your CV when applying for jobs.
