Over a dozen members of the congregation of Hereford Cathedral, lead by the Dean, undertook a major clean of the Cathedral Close on Saturday, February 13th, as part of the ‘Clean for the Queen’ campaign to mark Her Majesty’s 90th birthday, and as part of a rolling programme of self-help in keeping the Close looking good.

"We are grateful to the local authority for all that they do in caring for the Close," said the Dean, "but I am also a great believer in getting stuck in and helping yourself – I know I cannot expect the council to give the leave of care and detail in their cleaning that the members of the congregation and I are able to do.

"This year it is wonderful to be part of the national programme to tidy our cities and public spaces as part of the Clean For The Queen campaign to mark her birthday in April. This will be the first of a number of times we do a major clean of the Close this year and all are welcome to join us."

Those wishing to be told about future Close tidy-up days should contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Hereford Cathedral in the first instance.
