The October meeting saw a long awaited display on Herefordshire villages. Frank Bennett displayed postcards showing the old village post offices from all over the county. Some of these had been digitally enlarged so that the postmasters and their families who had posed for the photographs could be clearly seen.

To this already impressive display, were added items of mail posted at each of the villages described.

These included letters posted with the famous Penny Black stamps and contemporary Mulready letter sheets plus mail from really small villages to “exotic” locations such as Chicago!

Our next meeting on November 2 is an internationally acclaimed presentation entitled “Here Be Dragons” and will be held in St Martin’s Hall, in Ross Road at 7.30pm.
