Herefordshire’s motorists will have 17 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And two of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A49, from 10pm February 14 to 6am March 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 northbound and southbound, wilton island to grafton island, mobile lane closures for gully cleaning and sweeping.

• A49, from 8pm February 14 to 11.59pm March 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 northbound, Llandinabo, herefordshire, lane closure northbound, with traffic signals, for rock slope netting works.

• A40, from 8pm February 14 to 6am March 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A49 Llandinabo, Herefordshire northbound and southbound, between A4137 and B4348, carriageway closure for Geotechnical rock slope netting.

• M50, from 9pm February 14 to 6am April 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M50 eastbound and westbound, junction 4 to 2, carriageway and associated slip road closures for barrier improvement works.

• M50, from 9am February 7 to 6am April 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M50 eastbound and westbound, junction 3 to 2, Lane closures for barriers works.

• A40, from 8am October 11 2021 to 5pm June 17 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A40 eastbound, Weir End to Greytree, Lane closure for rock face maintenance.

And a further 11 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A49, from 9am March 7 to 4pm March 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 Edgar Street, Utility works on behalf of Cadent Gas.

• A40, from 8pm March 7 to 6am March 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A40 eastbound and westbound, Wilton island to Goodrich junction, lane closures for drainage surveying works.

• A49, from 8pm March 7 to 6am April 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 northbound and southbound, Stokesay to Strefford, temporary traffic signals and mobile lane closures for Ground Penetrating Radar surveys.

• A49, from 10pm March 7 to 6am March 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 northbound and southbound, A49/ A465, junction to A438, junction, Lane closure for carriageway - anti-skid resurfacing.

• A49, from 8.30am March 8 to 4.30pm March 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49, junction of A44 North of Hope under dinmore, No carriageway incursion for utility works on behalf of Vodafone.

• A49, from 9.30am to 3.30pm on March 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 between, junction A456 to junction A4112, traffic signals for utility works on behalf of Western Power.

• A49, from 8pm March 8 to 6am March 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 Harewood End, Utility works on behalf of Western Power.

• A49, from 10pm March 8 to 6am March 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 northbound, much birch junction, lane closures with temporary traffic signals for road marking repair works.

• A49, from 9pm March 9 to 6am March 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 Much Birch - temporary two-way signals for Electrical works.

• A49, from 7pm March 15 to 6am March 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 Ross Road, traffic signals for utility works on behalf of BT.

• A49, from 9.30am March 21 to 3.30pm March 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A49 Queenwoods County Park, traffic signals for tree works on behalf of Country Park.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
