The Merry Millers are the largest farmer-orientated charity fundraisers in Herefordshire, with tremendous support from both farmers and auctioneers and farm suppliers.

They are proud to announce their recent achievements, and are excited to be well on their way to reaching £100,000.

Their Race Evening at Hereford Racecourse in March, 2018, raised over £5000. This puts them nicely past a £90,000 total, to date, since their first arrangement in May, 2012.

Some of the £5000 has already been donated to St Michael’s Hospice and also to Tenovus Cancer Care, Abergavenny, where one of our loyal supporters has very recently had such wonderful care and successful treatment.

Merry Millers have donated over £26,000 towards the Endoscopy Stack. It is in Hereford Hospital and serves the counties of Hereford, Monmouth and Powys.

Patients undergoing tests for a range of urological diseases, including cancer, are set to benefit from new state-of-the-art equipment which will mean a diagnosis and a decision on treatment within hours instead of weeks.

It was officially ‘launched’ in August and via urine samples, can detect very early stages of Prostate cancer and, perhaps more importantly, diagnosis on the day.

Two of Merry Millers’ supporters have already been, with wonderful negative results.

For women, again via a urine sample, early diagnosis of bowel cancer can be detected. The mental anguish of waiting for the result has gone.

As a matter of interest the Merry Millers were there on day two of the machine’s launch. Out of 16 patients examined only one had a potential problem. The virtual instant response delighted the patients.

Friday, May 3rd, 2019 will see what could be the last Merry Millers Dinner Dance to be held at the Three Counties Hotel, Hereford.

This event will be ‘different’, and the organisers say that there’s no excuses not to go. Merry Millers want to get way past £100K and save more lives.
