A group of 15 Ross-on-Wye and Newent dancers, who belong to the local dancing group Dance Your Way, which is run by Miranda de Barra, were delighted to take part in a regional dance competition recently, where they earned themselves 35 awards. This was at the International Dance Teachers’ Association Southwest Regional Area Ballroom and Latin Competition. They competed on the weekend of November 17th to November 18th.

The regional competition runs over the entire South West area of the UK branch of the International Dance Teachers’ Association schools, so it was a huge achievement for all of the participants.

The International Dance Teachers’ Association is a leading dance qualifications awarding body and membership association for professional dance teachers.

Their teacher, Miranda, described all of the dancers as ‘the true Strictly stars’.

Miranda said: “They have worked incredibly hard and I am immensely proud to send each and every one onto the floor.”

The dancers won many 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, as well as some top 6 finalist placements. The very long day of dancing for all of the participants brought exceptional results across the board.

Miranda told the Ross Gazette that it was a great privilege to compete alongside their fellow schools who are of such a high standard. She said: “Each dancer took the tough day in their stride and gave it everything - which is clear from their achievements! Congratulations to all - a great achievement from these local young people.”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
