Madam, As a 79 year old woman living in the Channel Islands I had always wanted to visit Ross-on-Wye and Abergavenny. So whilst staying with relatives in the north of England I decided to get on a National Express coach and have a really big adventure. When I got to Ross I made my way to Sainsbury's when I became very ill. The wonderful staff there helped me and called the Police Community Support Officer Alison Dore, who kindly, and efficiently, did a lovely job of finding me an hotel. That's when I discovered the Merton House Hotel on Eddie Cross Street, where kindness in the care of the elderly is second nature. They took me in, looked after me and I was able to join the regular holiday makers on their outings. Thank you to everybody who helped me, I remember them with affection. But I never got to Abergavenny- maybe next time. Irene Dawson
