Nine-year-old Holly Stringer from Wilton, had her long brown hair chopped off on Thursday, March 24th, to raise funds for Comic Relief.

Holly also donated the hair she had cut off to the Little Princess Trust, a Hereford-based charity that provides wigs to children who have lost their hair though illnesses like cancer and alopecia.

Holly was very excited to have her hair styled into a textured ‘pixie cut’ style, and she bounced through the doors of Peter Charles Hairdressing on Thursday evening.

Naomi Salter, owner the Ross-on-Wye salon, cut Holly’s hair. She reassured Holly during every stage of the haircut, and styled her new crop with wax at the end, to make sure that Holly’s new hair-do looked its best.

Naomi did not charge Holly’s parents for the haircut; she said that she would rather the money was contributed to Comic Relief.

So far, Holly has raised more than £165, and the total is increasing. Holly approached her friends, family, teachers and school friends to sponsor her, and she is delighted that two charities will benefit.
