Family members, friends and those who had worked with Colin Gray over many years, and in many different community projects, gathered at the Tudorville and District Community Centre to pay tribute to him on Wednesday, November 28th.
The meeting room at the centre was renamed the Colin Gray Room in his honour.
Colin was part of a large, close family and many of his brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces, joined his wife, Anne, and sons at the Centre for this poignant occaision.
The Mayor of Ross also attended, as well as many Councillors who have worked with Colin, a former Mayor, over many years, and many of those who were there included those who had known him all their lives. Colin and Anne had worked together in many different capacities, particularly helping the young at the Centre and for charities, especially St Michael’s Hospice.
Paul Deneen told the Ross Gazette that he considered Colin to be a true “Man of Ross” and Joyce Thomas said he was someone who made a valuable contribution, not just to Tudorville but to the wider Ross-on-Wye district area.
Everyone agreed that it was particularly apt that the room was named after Colin as he had been so instrumental in saving the Centre from closure.
