The Horse and Jockey will remain open, after being granted a temporary contract last week.

Landlords and landlady, Martyn and Jenny Clemson had expected the pub to close after it was bought by New River Retail.

However, on Friday, September 11th, Alan Sayers of LT Management Services flew down from Edinburgh to sign the contracts with the couple. The visit from LT management came as a result of the public outcry and controversy that had surrounded the possible closure.

Martyn Clemson, told the Ross Gazette: “The support was very touching, we only came here as temporary managers and people supported us. It is really quite emotional.”

The contract has seen Martyn and Jenny move from managers of the establishment to the tenants of the Horse and Jockey.

Martyn Webster, of LT Management said: “The community support for the pub was fantastic and we’re delighted to have picked up such a popular pub.”
