THE MAN who organised a widely publicised house raffle earlier this year could face legal action from disgruntled ticket holders, the Ross Gazette has learned.

Mel Yates, the 66-year-old man who announced in the spring that he was raffling his Gorsley home, stated in interviews for local radio and newspapers that his primary motive was to raise money for two charities, the Injured Jockeys Fund and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

But his decision last month to bring the sale of tickets to an early close, and the reasons he gave for doing so, have whipped up a storm of complaints and alarm among the people who bought tickets, several of whom have contacted this newspaper to express their anger.
