When Humphrey, a nearly blind homeless cat was found, his eyes were almost closed and suppurating, due to an excruciatingly painful condition, entropion, which causes the eyelids to reverse and develop cataracts. Eventually, Humphrey would have lost the limited vision which remained. Added to this he was lost, hungry and without shelter during the recent period of sub-zero cold.

Mercifully, Humphrey’s plight was seen by a kind elderly gentleman who fed him and searched for help. He found local cat rescue charity, Help For Cats, and Humphrey, a very friendly cat, is now regaling his fosterer with his 24-hour mega purr.

Humphrey has received vital immediate veterinary care, but Help for Cats know nothing of this lovely cat’s history. He was wandering, crying, clearly in pain, very thin and hungry in an area of Ross-on-Wye that is notorious to Help for Cats as a ‘dumping ground’ for unwanted animals.

Times are hard for the charity, as for all, particularly animal charities. Their nightmare is of one day having to close their doors to the Humphries of this world, despite their ongoing struggles.

Help for Cats has an online Crowdfunding appeal to raise funds for vet bills for Humphrey. To donate, please click here.
