Madam, Oh dear! Here we go again. The Ross Gazette's records will show that the people of Ross and its environs have fought off Tesco's ambitions before.
I believe the campaign was called 'RATS' (Ross against a Tesco Store?),and presumably a vast amount of money was raised and spent in order to achieve a successful outcome.
The danger of another large supermarket to a small town hardly needs spelling out: Ross has always been a 'useful' town where you could buy almost anything. It is in danger of becoming a shabby little place where people will drive in, fill their cars with supermarket supplies and depart, without looking at what the town may or may not have to offer
Progress can happen in many different ways, and should not be solely represented by out-of-scale and unnecessary developments.
Stephanie Ross, Llangarron
Madam, What on this earth do we need a Tesco for in Ross and right next to Morrisons? Completely bonkers. It is not as if we don't have enough choice around here! What a complete waste of a useful piece of land too. Have Ross people been consulted on the best use of that land? Of course not, some decisions have clearly already been made.
The usual bogus claims about new jobs, car parking and petrol facilities and no doubt some tie up with a sports facility will be trotted out on cue so let's just watch how our councillors handle this asinine plan in the interests of the town.
Andrew Meek, Ross
