Madam, Sunday evening I went along to the Screen at the Phoenix to enjoy "lt's a Wonderful Life" on the big screen. Despite rumours to the contrary I have not been around as long as the film and have only ever seen it on the small screen.

What a gem of a film and a gem of a cinema. I had a glass of chilled wine before the start of the film and then sat in comfortable seats with a big screen and big sound with approximately 50 like-minded people. At the end of the screening there wasn't a dry eye in the house and everybody applauded; which seems a bit daft but seemed to fit the occasion. Certainly put me in the right frame of mind to enjoy the coming festivities.

Through you I would like to congratulate and thank all those who had the foresight to open up the theatre to a wider audience of film goers. lt is an asset to the town and should be supported to ensure the venture continues and grows.

I am looking forward to the next screening.
