The canine residents of Goodrich and surrounding areas will be doing their bit to help with the cost of much needed work in St. Giles’ Church on July 28th when they come out for the village’s first ever dog show.
With a wide variety of classes, dog agility and a scurry there will be something to suit all sorts. And with a luxury tea and a glass of Pimms, two legged supporters will be well looked after too.
All funds raised will be going towards long awaited repairs to the church organ. St. Giles’ organist Keith Jones (pictured with his own dog, Betsie) said: “This should be a lot of fun for everyone. Our organ was last fully overhauled over 30 years ago and it’s starting to ask for some extra care, mainly with some of its stops.”
The substantial instrument, built in 1882 by London makers Eustace Ingram, provides much loved accompaniment to the regular services at St. Giles and, it is hoped, with the repairs carried out, the church will be able to host visiting musicians for a series of organ concerts next year.
Goodrich Dog Show will take place on the field next to St. Giles’ Church from 3pm on Saturday, July 28th. Entry £5 per person, entry for each class £3.
