Many people travelling from Ross to Hereford on Sunday thought they were seeing things when they realised that traffic was being held up by a plane on the road. Even without wings a 737 fuselage is not an easy thing to manoeuvre especially around this county's rural roads
The craft had left RAF Kemble airfield early on Sunday morning and travelled around the roundabout at Wilton shortly after noon.
The Ross Gazette shared this photograph taken by reader Clair Emery on its Facebook page and the story really took off.
More comments were posted by other successful plane spotters and by those who were baffled by the whole story.
However just to clarify the incident, a transporter carrying a 737 aircraft fuselage, weighing a total of 70 tonnes, left RAF Kemble at about 7:15am escorted by Wiltshire Police.
The picture by Clair has been seen by more than 12,000 people making this one of the Gazette's most popular posts.
