The Governing Body of John Kyrle High School has achieved an 'outstanding' grading for their recent 'Governor Mark' application. This follows the school receiving an 'Outstanding' in its latest Ofsted inspection.
'Governor Mark' is the quality standard for governing bodies. Ethos and working practices, statutory framework and the impact of governance influencing achievement in the school are all assessed as part of the application.
Martin Pounce, the assessor, wrote that the school had 'an outstanding governing body, with very high engagement with the school.'
He added that he was, '...struck by the direct involvement by governors in strategic planning, strengthening attendance as well as links with primary schools and other networking.'
Headteacher, Nigel Griffiths said: "This award was hard-earned with much evidence required from a number of day visits from perceptive and challenging assessors.
"Karen Frost, Steve Lester and Rod Barker led the bid and I would like to thank them and congratulate the Governing Body as a whole."
