Patriotic parties, fireworks and live music were highlights of a four day Bank Holiday weekend celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen. After local uniformed organisations led a parade to the riverside on Monday, June 4th the beacon on Ross?Prospect was lit at about 10pm, to coincide with the lighting of the Royal Beacon.
Despite a downpour on Sunday which meant the riverside picnic was a bit of a wash out the rest of the Jubilee plans in the area went ahead in great spirit. The weekend of festivities was kickstarted by lots of schools holding red, white and blue picnics for pupils and families. Ross Pre-School Playgroup held a very successful street party in the car park of the Larruperz Centre, at least 100 people attended to play games and enjoy plenty of cakes.
There are lots more pictures in this week's Ross Gazette.
