Madam, As Chairman of Ross-in-Bloom I would like to thank those shops who were able to take part in the Children's Hidden Object Competition for the Jubilee Half term

weets for their help - they gave out and collected in entry sheets as well as giving out Jubilee Lollies to everyone who brought back competed forms.

Those completed forms have now been marked and the winner decided.

I would like to assure everyone who took part that any shops which were listed but did not have a picture in the window were removed before they were marked. The winner will be receiving a jar of Jubilee Sweets.

The winners of the Jubilee Window Competition have been published and I would like to thank everyone who took part. Competition was excellent and this resulted in 6 Gold Winners from the 24 who took part.

I would like to assure everyone that the marking is carried out by volunteers of very varied skills regarding window dressing, crafts, decoration, etc. They all mark independently, giving points on what they see, regardless of what they have seen in other windows. Their marks are added up and turned into percentages. None of them knows what each other has given so the results are often as much a surprise to them as they are to the entrant.

There are set percentages for each category of Gold, Silver-Gilt etc. Sometimes a Silver Gilt mark can be only one percent away from a Gold etc but we have to draw the line somewhere.

We do hope there will be plenty of enthusiasm for the Summer Window competition with the theme 'Going for Gold'. We look forward to seeing the lovely varied windows that will no doubt be on display when the Heart of England and Britain in Bloom Judges visit to judge Ross on Monday, July 23rd.

Margaret Lucas, I would like to thank Tudor S

Chairman Ross-in-Bloom
