Ross Rowing Club was out in force at the Monmouth and Hereford Regattas on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Over 40 entries spanned the three days, the bulk of which were from the Junior Academy, who were racing in the sprint event at Monmouth, on Saturday.

The Club netted a massive 10 wins on Saturday, with eight coming from the Junior Academy, and two from senior men.

The winners were – Single Sculling: WJ14 Rosie Brandram Jones, Ellie Blackwood WJ15 J12 Johan Lai, WJ12 Jess Crossman; In Double Sculls, WJ14 Rosie Brandram Jones and Amy Surman, WJ12, Jess Crossman, Olivia Bayham Williams; Quad Sculls, J13, Nick Burden, Dale Kernot, George Probert, Scott Morris, Cox Rhodri Morris, J12 Gregory Fitz Horswell, Megan Jephcote, Rosie Ingram, Johan Lai – Cox Olivia Baynham Williams.

Junior captain, John Lewis, said:?"This was a tremendous result for the Junior Squad. The quad work especially was of exceptional level. We are very proud of all our competitors."

From the Seniors, the veteran crew of Jeremy Picton Turberville , Graham Watling, Paul Brodholt Dave Sykes and Lucy Jones (Cox) beat their opposition from Warwick by a handsome margin.

Steve Randall and Phil Davies overcame strong opposition from Bradford upon Avon in their Veteran coxless pairs final.

At Monmouth on Sunday, Kelly Morris and Rosie Lindley, hard on the heels of a early exit in the National schools' semi-final, got back to winning ways over the 1500 meter course against opposition from Monmouth Comprehensive.

At Hereford regatta on Bank holiday Monday Ross had the Veteran Crews led by Jeremy Picton Turberville, the Ladies' intermediate crew, and a men's high performance crew.

The Veteran crew were competing against key opposition from Totnes and having lost to them last season the new line-up was keen to beat them. From the start, the Ross crew led down the 1000m course, holding on to win by 6 feet.

The Ross Men's coach said: "All the veteran results are excellent indicators of the state of readiness going into the last couple of weeks of preparation before Veteran National Championships in June."
