EnviroAbility, a charity that enables people from disadvantaged groups to be involved in projects that make a positive contribution within their area and help them realise they can become an asset to the community, is celebrating a new supporter who is helping keep the wheels on one of their projects turning.

Following requests from the public EnviroAbility set up, and runs, Ross-on-Wye Shop-Mobility. It is based at their We-Do-Books shop on Cantilupe Road and has been successfully serving both the community, and visitors to the area, for nearly 20 years. However, time has taken its toll and the condition of the scooters has been deteriorating.

Local Occupational Therapist, Beverly Humble, who helped launch the scheme, knew the value it has for people with reduced mobility. She spoke to Greg Mills of Mills Mobility, which is based in Hereford, about her concerns for the future of Ross-on-Wye Shop-Mobility.

Greg then visited the group within EnviroAbility that runs Shop-Mobility and met Sam. Greg was impressed by the team and especially by the number of hours the service is available. He was very pleased to meet people with disabilities and he was happy to see them actually taking an active part in running the service.

Greg owns and runs Mills Mobility and supports other Shop-Mobility services in the County. He offered to help the Ross-on-Wye group service and now maintains the scooters, even loaning them replacements for the ones which are being worked on. His contribution will mean that the project can safely continue for the foreseeable future.

The team at EnviroAbility are very grateful for his invaluable contribution to this scheme, and those who use it. Sam told the Ross Gazette that Greg’s contribution will make a huge difference, but he said the charity still needs more local volunteers to contribute to the Ross initiatives.

If you would like to get involved in this community scheme where they are sure you will make a difference and want to discuss the possibilities please call EnviroAbility on 01989 763388. They also have vacancies for people looking to buy a care package for either themselves or for someone they care for. They specialise in providing a high quality of care whilst helping individuals play an active part in making a positive contribution within their community. It costs nothing to visit them for a chat about opportunities.
