PCSO Lisa Austin was presented with a couple of household knives by the Mayor of Ross-on-Wye Town Council at the meeting on Monday, September 11th.
Councillor Gibbs told the PCSO that the knives had been found by the Town Council operatives when they had been called to remove some rubbish from Bluebell Close in Ross.
PCSO Austin said that the police had been called to Bluebell Close by a resident, who reported that children had found several knives in the play area. She said that the knives had been found in bags of rubbish which had been left near to the park and the incident was reported to Herefordshire Council. The rubbish was cleared by Town Council operatives who were not aware of the presence of knives and so were not wearing the correct protective clothing.
The Clerk asked the PCSO that reports of litter in Ross should be made to Ross Town Council, and they should be made aware of anything which could be potentially dangerous.
PCSO Austin took the knives with her to dispose of them and said that a knife amnesty for Herefordshire would be starting soon for anyone who needed to get rid of knives.
