ROSS-on-Wye's golf club Lady Captain, Jose Wilson, enjoyed the best of the weather for her Lady Captains Day when 89 ladies turned out to play a bowmaker competition. The winners of the two nearest the pins also featured in the prize list Audrey Marfell, nearest the pin on the 7th and Alison Harvey left herself a 22inch putt on the 12 hole having drilled her tee shot over the water.
Lin Bennett, Audrey Marfell and Jo Baker won with a staggering 87 point with Alison Harvey, Julia Wilde and Pat Beaman taking 2nd place on a countback from Kerry Welding, Jan Armstrong and Anne McArthur both teams scoring 86 points. There was also a target putting comp which was won by Jackie Wheatstone with 12 points. The Lady Captain presented the prizes of Champagne, glasses and picnic rugs to the winning teams. The club Captain, Mr Graham Smith, was also on hand to present Lady Captain Jose a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
