After successfully completing the Landy Rally European Charity drive Dean McGuigan and Helen Edwards raised £1500 for the Midlands Air Ambulance which they presented to the team at the Strensham Air Base.

The event, open to all Land Rovers, takes place annually in September and is designed for teams to compete against each other in a series of challenges across Europe whilst raising funds for charity. Dean and Helen named themselves the Range Ravers.

Last year's event took them through 11 countries in just nine days! From Ross and back they completed 3,356 miles. The highlights of this tremendous journey was travelling through the Alps and Pyrenees mountain regions.

They told The Ross Gazette that the challenge was lots of fun whilst very hard work, with some days including 14 hours driving. But they added: "It was all worth it when we presented the cheque."

Dean and Helen's 1987 Range Rover Classic encountered two breakdowns but thankfully due to the camaraderie between the participating teams help was at hand and both the problems were fixed fairly quickly.

On the last day of the event the Range Ravers travelled from Perpignan in the South of France to Calais in the North. They drove 760 miles and were the last team to arrive for the prize giving. However they were soon celebrating when it was announced that they had finished third in the overall standings for the event and received £250 which they have donated towards the charity.

Dean and Helen would like to pass on a massive thank you to everyone from Ross and Monmouth who sponsored them towards the charity and also to the local businesses who, with their help, made it possible for them to take part in the event.

Dean and Helen are looking to take on the challenge once more in September and any help will be gratefully received.
