THE Larruperz Community Centre is opening its doors to local residents next month so that they can discover everything the centre has to offer at a special open day.

The Open Day on Saturday, August 15 will be a celebration of the people, organisations and activities that make the centre such a vibrant hub for the town, offering visitors the opportunity to explore everything on offer under one roof.

The event is free to attend, and the centre manager along with members of the Larruperz Community Centre Committee will be on hand throughout the day to welcome visitors, answer questions and introduce the many clubs, groups and services that call Larruperz Community Centre home.

A special highlight of the day will be the dedication of a memorial bench in honour of Sue Kirby, a much-loved and long-serving committee member whose commitment to the community touched countless lives who died in June.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet representatives from a wide range of local organisations and activity groups, including Slimming World; Citizens Advice; Rowan Tree Mediation; Headway and the University of the Third Age.

As visitors explore the centre, they can also enjoy a complimentary buffet, freshly prepared by the centre’s own in-house caterers, Katie’s Kitchen, giving everyone the chance to sample the excellent catering service available at the Larruperz.

Centre manager Steven Gaythorpe said: “Our Open Day is all about showing people just how much their community centre has to offer. We have an incredible mix of groups, charities and organisations working from Larruperz, and we’re looking forward to welcoming residents through our doors.

“It’s also a privilege to honour Sue Kirby, whose dedication and passion for the centre made a lasting difference to our community.”
