After celebrating their 15th anniversary at their Ross-on-Wye site recently, Clean Linen and Workwear invited the Ross Gazette to have a look around their impressive site.

Clean Linen and Workwear have been operating as a commercial laundry in Ross for nearly 100 years and moved to their current site on Netherton Road in November 2004.

The site specialises in bed linen, towelling and table linen serving customers and clients in Herefordshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands, Wales and beyond. The site has various hotel clients both local and national including providing linen for big chains such as Premier Inn, Marriot and Hilton hotels.

With around 90 members of production staff along with equipment including industrial-sized washers and driers costing over £10 million, the site is a busy workplace with many different sections as products go through the various stages from washing and drying, to ironing and folding.

Staff in the factory often progress through different sections from working as operators and feeders to moving on to quality control, which takes more training and skill with quality control staff often handling 1500 pieces of linen an hour.

Site Director John Newland said: “The company and this site in particular is in a very good place at this moment in time. Last year we delivered over 20 million pieces last year, exceeding our usual number of pieces, so we had a great year and are in a very good place when it comes you our output and the money we are generating through our staff’s hard work. Hopefully with more of the same hard work we will be here for another fifteen years.”
